Statement of Faith

(What we believe)

  1. Bible - II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21
  2. We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God; that the sixty-six books, as originally written, comprising the Old and New Testaments were verbally inspired by the Spirit of God and were entirely free from error; that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice and the true basis of Christian union.

  3. God - Deut. 6:4; Isa. 44:6-8; I Tim. 1:17; Rev. 4:8; Matt. 28:18-20
  4. We believe there is but one true and living God; that He is inexpressibly holy, sovereign, eternal, infinite, and perfect in all His attributes; that He possesses Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence and exists in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  5. Christ - John 1:1-4; I Cor. 15:3-5, 20, 23; Heb. 9:28
  6. We believe in the absolute and essential deity of Jesus Christ, in His eternal existence with the Father, in preincarnate glory, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal, glorious and imminent return.

  7. Holy Spirit - I Cor. 12:3-13; John 14:16, 17; John 16:7-15; John 7:38, 39
  8. We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, Who convinces of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement; Who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ; Who baptizes believers into the body of Christ at the time of the believer's acceptance of Christ as Saviour.

  9. Angels - Heb. 1:4-7, 14
  10. We believe that there are angels; that they are the created beings of God, doing His service.

  11. Satan - Job 1:6-12; John 8:44; Rev. 20:1-3, 7-10
  12. We believe that Satan exists as an evil personality, the originator of sin, the archenemy of God and man, and with his angels will be committed to the eternal lake of fire.

  13. Man - Gen. 1:26; 2:17; Rom. 5:12-19; Eph. 2:1-3
  14. We believe that man was divinely created in the image of God; that he sinned becoming guilty before God, resulting in total depravity, thereby incurring physical and spiritual death.

  15. Salvation - Eph. 1:7; 2:8, 9; John 10:11, 18, 28, 29; Rom. 8:28-30; II Tim. 1:9, 10; Phil. 1:6
  16. We believe that salvation is by the sovereign electing grace of God; that by the appointment of the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a vicarious, expiatory and propitiatory death; that justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those whom God has effectually called shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected in the image of the Lord.

  17. Future Things - Acts 1:10, 11; I Cor. 15; I Thess. 4:17; Rev. 20:11-15
  18. We believe in the personal, imminent, bodily and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the resurrection of the just and unjust; in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed; and in the judgement and conscious eternal punishment of the wicked.

  19. Local Church - Acts 2:41, 42, 46, 47; 20:17, 28; II Cor. 8:18-24; Eph. 5
  20. We believe that a church is a company of immersed believers, called out from the world separated unto the Lord Jesus, voluntarily associated for the ministry of the Word, the mutual edification of its members, the propagation of the faith and the administration of the ordinances. We believe it is a sovereign, independent body, exercising its own divinely awarded gifts, precepts and privileges under the Lordship of Christ, the Great Head of the Church. Pastors, Elders and Deacons are the scriptural officers.

  21. Ordinances - Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 2:38; 8:12; Luke 22:19, 20; I Cor. 11:23-32
  22. We believe that there are only two ordinances to be administered by the church in the New Testament.

    1. Baptism which is the immersion of the believer in water, whereby he obeys Christ's command and sets forth his identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
    2. The Lord's Supper which is the memorial wherein the believer partakes of the two elements, bread and drink, which symbolize the Lord's body and shed blood, proclaiming His death until He comes.

  23. The Church and State - Matt. 22:15-22; Acts 4:19; 5:29
  24. We believe in the entire separation of church and state.

  25. Religious Liberty - Joshua 24:15
  26. We believe in religious liberty; that every man has the right to practice and propagate his beliefs.

  27. The Lord's Day - Acts 20:7; I Cor. 16:2
  28. We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord's Day, and that, in a special sense, it is an appointed day of worship and spiritual exercise.

  29. Civil Government - I Peter 2:13-15; Rom. 13
  30. We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honoured and obeyed, except only in the things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the only Lord of the conscience and Prince of the kings of the earth.
