Rev. J. C.Wayne Harnden - Senior Pastor
Life verse - Colossians 1: 25-29
Pastor Wayne grew
up in the hamlet of Cold Springs in the county of Northumberland.
During these years he was involved in many community
activities. He sang in his church choir, was involved in
Sunday School, Young Peoples, Scout Commander and
played on the community baseball team. He was also involved in
the town militia. He graduated from
the local high school and began work at a nearby uranium refinery.
There he worked as a lab technician for 13 years. During those
13 years he met and married a local girl (Loraine) on April 6,
1968. They began their little family the next year and were
eventually blessed with two children; April and Aaron. In the
years following, Wayne found himself in a Fellowship Baptist
Church, where he became a born again believer. It was here that
he received his calling to go into the ministry. For this reason
in the fall of 1979, he packed up his
little family, and headed west to Prairie Bible College, Three
Hills, AB. He graduated
in 1981 receiving his Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree. He
then turned his attention
toward the pastorate; but his Heavenly Father had other plans
for him. The
administration of the college called him to be on their faculty
as the Director
of Admissions, Pastoral Internship, and
Christian Service. He served the
Lord in these positions for two years. Yet the call back to
Ontario proved to strong and in
the summer of 1983, he headed home. Here the Lord led him to the
pastorate of the Fellowship
Baptist Church in Collingwood, ON. He received his ordination
here at the Collingwood
church, June 13, 1985. He served in the Collingwood church for 7
1/2 years. Yet the call of
the wild west (and his Heavenly Father) proved to strong and
once again Wayne found
himself ministering in an AGC church in Dauphin, MB. Here he
served the Lord for 8 1/2 years
returning back to Ontario December 1998 and ministering in two
more Fellowship
Baptist Church one in Ancaster where he remained for 3 years and
his present pastorate, Bethel
Baptist here in St. Catharines.
Pastor Wayne has
always had a burden for the local church in seeing believers maturing to all
that they can be in Christ through the power of the Holy
Spirit.- Eph.4: 11-13. To this end
Pastor Wayne finds God's Word the focal point of his ministry;
believing that the preaching and
teaching of God's Word will be instrumental in the changing of
lives to the glory of God. He has a shepherd's heart
and
desires to lead his flock as Christ, his heavenly Shepherd would.
